Introduction
Aura Dating (the “Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) values your privacy and is committed to safeguarding personal data relating to you (“User”, “you”, or “your”). We operate India's first AI-astrology powered dating app (“Aura Dating”), which leverages large language models (“LLMs”) and our AI-powered astrology engine to replicate the nuances of a human matchmaker and provide a modern dating experience through astrological compatibility (the “Services”). The third-party AI service providers we use, and the data shared with each, are set out in the “AI Services and Data Processing” section below.
“Personal Data”
“Personal Data” refers to any information which can be used to identify you, such as name, address, phone number, or billing information. This Privacy Policy describes our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Data when you access Aura Dating and use the Services, and tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
We use your Personal Data to provide and improve Aura Dating and our Services. By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy as well as our Terms and Conditions, available within the Aura Dating application and at auradating.co.in.
What data do we process, and why?
To provide access to our AI-astrology powered dating app and its Services, we process data transmitted by you or generated through your use of the Services, including your Personal Data. Specifically, we collect:

From where do we collect your Personal Data?
- Directly from you — any Personal Data you upload or share with us on Aura Dating or through official communication channels.
- Automatically — when you use Aura Dating and access our Services, we use automated means to collect certain technical and behavioural data about you that helps us improve your experience.
- From third parties — such as Google and other social media services used to create an account and log in, third-party AI and LLM providers (named below), other in-application integrations, analytics providers, marketing and advertisement providers, and infrastructure providers. For third-party social media services, you may also have the option of sharing additional information with us through the respective service.
AI services and data processing
Aura Dating uses artificial intelligence to power core features, including voice conversations with our AI-powered astrologer, personalised matchmaking, photo analysis and chat-based insights. To provide these features, we transmit specific categories of your Personal Data to the third-party AI service providers listed below. Each provider is governed by its own privacy policy and by a data processing agreement with us that requires it to protect your data with safeguards at least equivalent to those described in this Privacy Policy.

Data categories transmitted, by feature
- Voice calls (onboarding, vent, debrief): voice audio, real-time transcript, your profile fields and prior conversation history.
- Photo analysis: photos you upload and the embeddings generated from them.
- Matchmaking: profile fields, preferences and narrative summaries through AI-powered astrology.
- LinkedIn enrichment (optional): the LinkedIn URL you provide during onboarding.
Your consent
You must consent to this processing during onboarding to use these features. Consent is captured on the onboarding consent screen with an explicit checkbox, before any of your data is sent to these providers. If you do not consent, AI-powered features will not be available. You may withdraw your consent at any time by writing to support@auradating.co.in.
Some providers (including OpenAI, Claude AI and Google) may retain data for a limited period for security and abuse detection under their standard API terms; see their linked privacy policies for retention specifics. None of these providers use your data to train their public models.
Refunds
The customer must provide a reason for the refund. Within 72 hours (3 days) thereafter, the refund shall be processed after consideration of the reasoning given by the user.
Retention of your Personal Data
The Company will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data and Usage Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations.
If you choose to delete your account, request deletion of your Personal Data, or otherwise withdraw your consent for processing, you understand that we may still be required to retain some elements of your Personal Data or Usage Data to comply with applicable laws, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may use that window to access your account or contact us to exercise your rights, failing which your Personal Data will be permanently deleted from our systems.
The Company will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period, except where it is used to strengthen security or improve the functionality of the Services, or where we are legally obliged to retain it for longer.
Aggregated data
We may use aggregated and de-identified Personal Data for research, analytics, and to enhance or develop new features. Such data does not identify individual Users and is used solely to improve the overall performance of Aura Dating and its Services, and the User experience.
Transfer of your Personal Data
Your information, including Personal Data, is processed as user safety information and in the places where the parties involved in the processing are located. Dating app user information and monthly/yearly payment information is saved and stored in India. Your consent to this Privacy Policy, followed by your submission of such information, represents your agreement to that transfer.
The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and no transfer of your Personal Data will take place to an organisation or country without adequate controls in place, including the security of your data.
Your rights
- Subject to applicable legal and contractual obligations required to deliver our Services, you may choose whether to consent to the collection, use or disclosure of your Personal Data. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. If you have concerns or complaints regarding our privacy practices, please write to our support email. If you do not consent or withdraw consent, we may be unable to continue providing access to certain features.
- You have the right to review, access, update, amend or delete your Personal Data through the account settings section, or by requesting our assistance at support@auradating.co.in.
- Please note that we may need to retain certain information where we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.
- Right to grievance redressal — you may raise a grievance if you object to any processing of your Personal Data or believe there has been a breach of your rights under this Privacy Policy, by contacting our support email. We reserve the right to verify your identity before processing your request, and not to respond to complaints we believe are manifestly false, unfounded or frivolous. These rights may be limited where we are legally required to process or retain your Personal Data. If your grievance remains unresolved, you have the right to escalate it to the Data Protection Board of India.
- Right to nominate — you can designate another individual to exercise your rights under this Privacy Policy on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
Third-party sharing and user choices
Users are notified through this Privacy Policy and/or in-app notifications before any third party processes Personal Data. You can also disable optional analytics or marketing communications by emailing support@auradating.co.in.
Security of your Personal Data
The security of your Personal Data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction is important to us. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security, since no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Our employees, agents, contractors and third parties who have access to your Personal Data for the performance of business functions are required to process it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you have any concerns, require assistance, or suspect that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact support@auradating.co.in.
Children's privacy
Aura Dating may only be accessed by persons who are at least 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 18, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
If we need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your information and your country requires consent from a parent, we may require your parent's consent before we collect and use such Personal Data.
Links to other websites
Aura Dating may contain links to other websites that are not operated by us. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every third-party site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page, and will let you know via email and/or a prominent notice on Aura Dating prior to the change becoming effective, and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Changes are effective when they are posted on this page.
